Welcome to our store. Come on in and look around. We have all kinds of gifts for your special occasion.
Welcome to Joshua's Pet Treat Bakery. Thank you for shopping with us. We have been in business for over 3 years now. We are trying to make a difference in our community providing job training to individuals with disabilities. It all started in 2008 when Lois Davis, whose son, Joshua, was about to graduate from high school. Joshua's situation is such that he is not capable of holding any regular job. And Lois wanted to try to find something worthwhile for him to do once he graduated. Joshua really loves our dogs, Max and Malcolm, and Lois hit on the idea of having Joshua make dog treats for them. So, with the help of Joshua's father, Tim, who has a degree in Animal Science and a lot of experience working in both the pet food and baking industries, Joshua and Lois started making dog treats in their home bakery. Then the family would take the biscuits to local craft fairs and sell them. They even went so far as to become registered with the Tennessee Department of Agriculture as a licensed animal feed manufacturer!
A casual conversation one day with Joshua's special ed teacher at the high school led shortly thereafter to a phone call from the Special Ed Job Coach asking if he could bring over a few special ed students, classmates of Joshua's, to help work in the bakery. So now, five days a week, students from Joshua's special education class come to the bakery to help make biscuits. What started as an attempt to help one young man, has grown to providing job experience for a larger number of individuals . Additionally, we have been blessed and fortunate enough to have a number of local Crossville retailers help us sell our biscuits, as well as advice from local veterinarians on formulations. Our primary goal is to help the community by providing work and training opportunity for adults with special needs, and at the same time, make treats your pets will enjoy. So, when you buy our treats, you are not only making your pets happy, but you are helping to provide work for adults with special needs. It's a WIN WIN for everyone and all of our furfriend customers.
